THE SEASON OF LENT (the days leading up to Easter) is a time that Christians have set aside to humble ourselves before God as we remember the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord.
Here's what I am encouraging the members and friends of Mt. Zion to do this Lent:
1.) Read one Psalm each day (every time you read about warfare and enemies, think about the enemies of your soul - anger, fear, etc.).
2.) Read one chapter a day from the accounts of Jesus' last days on earth: Matthew 21:1-28:20; Mark 11:1-16:20; Luke 19:28-24:53; John 12:12-21:25.
3.) Pray each day for three persons who are apart from the Lord, and reach out in some tangible way to those three persons.
4.) As a means of entering into, in a small way, the suffering of Christ on the cross, fast (do not eat) one day each week until sundown. (Please do not fast if health concerns are an issue).
