Soul Detox: Resentments

January 22, 2017

Soul Detox - a series of sermons - getting and keeping a clean soul in a contaminated world. Keynote verses for series: Proverbs 25:26, In what ways has the influence of a contaminated world kept you from being a spring of life for those around you? Psalm 51:2, in what ways have you experienced the cleansing power of the Lord?

Resentments - in a world of resentments, anger, and frustration, how do we get and keep all that mess out of our hearts, so that we can be a fountain of life?

1.) Proverbs 22:24-25. Solomon avoided resentments and anger by staying away from angry, resentful people. What influences of anger (people, media, etc.) do you need to stay away from?

2.) Genesis 4:1-11, Ecclesiastes 7:9, Matthew 5:21-22, James 1:19-20. Cain was full of resentment and anger because he didn't believe the warning God gave him about how damaging anger is. Why is anger a "progressive disease"? How has anger separated you from God?

3.) Luke 15:25-32. The older brother was full of resentment and anger because he wasn't grateful for what he had. How does gratitude guard your soul from resentment and anger?

4.). Ephesians 4:26-27. Paul got rid of his anger and resentments by learning to get rid of them quickly. Pastor Craig described the "conveyor belt method of prayer" as a way of getting rid of anger quickly. Have you tried this? If, so how has it worked for you? What other methods of getting rid on anger quickly has worked for you?
