Soul Detox - getting and keeping a clean soul in a contaminated world - Proverbs 25:26, in what ways has the influence of a contaminated world kept you from being a spring of life for those around you? - Psalm 51:2, in what ways have you experienced the cleansing power of Jesus?
A Heart of Integrity - in a world of hypocrisy, dishonesty, broken promises, etc., Jesus promises to teach us how to be persons of integrity - the word integrity means "one, whole, complete" - the person of integrity is not two different persons in two different situations - a person of integrity is a blessing to everyone around them.
1.) The Promise - integrity brings great blessings to our lives - Proverbs 11:3, how does integrity guide us through life? - Proverbs 11:5, how does integrity keep us moving forward on a straight path? - Proverbs 2:7, why does the Lord have wisdom for a person of integrity? why is the Lord a shield for persons of integrity? - 1 Kings 9:4-5, in as much as David made some horrible choices, why would the Lord say that David walked with integrity? how would the promise made to Solomon apply to our lives?
2.) The Problem - we are all a huge mess - Romans 3:10-12 - why are Paul's words not an exaggeration? why is it so important for us to keep these words in mind as we pursue integrity? why might it be especially important for young persons and new believers to keep these words in mind?
3.) The Diagnosis - there is a war going on inside of us - our corrupted soul wars against our innermost being where the Spirit of God has come to dwell - Romans 7:15-23, why is Paul not exaggerating when he says that he does not understand his own actions? what is the significance of Paul saying, "It is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me"?
4.) The Plan - to become a person of integrity: be ruthlessly honest with yourself and God, and trust in the cleansing power of God's love that Jesus brings to us - Psalm 51:1-4, why do we avoid getting honest with ourselves and God? what is the motivation to get honest? how can we become aware of sin within us? looking at verse 4, how can we learn not to minimize the depth of our sinfulness? - Psalm 51:7, where do we find the confidence that the Lord will cleanse us? why is it that Law does not cleanse us, but the grace of God does? how does that work?
